Marion County is Classified as "Successful" by the State

One of the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 is that school districts share certain information regarding school performance with parents, including the following:
  • Parents must be informed if their child’s school is identified for school improvement. This happens if a school fails to make adequate yearly progress in the same area for two consecutive years.
    • Marion County School District is classified as "Successful"
    • West Marion High School, West Marion Elementary School and West Marion Primary School were identified as being “in school improvement - Year 1”.
    • Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) was met in all areas except in Reading/Language Arts.
  • Parents must be informed if the school has teachers who are not highly qualified in the subject they teach.
  • State, district and school level test data must be shared with parents each year.
  • Test data reports must show how different subgroups are performing.

The report card data in its entirety is available for public viewing at orsap.mde.k12.ms.us/MAARS/index.jsp on the Mississippi Department of Education website - or you can view the documents from the list below.  Once on this website, parents should select Marion County School District and then click on "NCLB RC".  You will need to click on the "Print Selected Tab" button in the top right corner before the Report Card becomes visible.
